How would you like to incorporate Graphic Recording into your next event?

Visual Notetaking, Graphic Facilitation, Visual Practition, it goes by many names. Graphic Recording has been around for a while but is still a blossoming field used to present information in a more visual and  more digestible format. Often used in meetings, workshops, or conferences, it can be used for anything, even Weddings!

A graphic Recorder's job is to synthesize information and demonstrate not just what is being discussed but also how it is brought up, emerging themes, and what resonates with people the most in the room. When information is presented in this way, you can communicate the experience of the discussion to people who weren't there but also help the people who were, feel engaged and heard.

Session/ Discussion Captures

A panel, Keynote Speech, Updates, All Hands, Fireside Chat, I can capture it all. This is my most common service and it is often used to provide a summary of what was discussed.

Attendees and Participants can often feel overwhelmed with the amount of information given over one or two days, this is where Graphic Recording adds value! With a visual capture created live in the room, participants retain information longer, feel engaged during the event, and empowered to put the information to action!

What does it look like in action?

I arrive onsite an hour before the event to set up, I bring materials: easels and markers, or an Ipad if it is being done digitally. By the start of the event, I am ready to live capture sessions agreed upon beforehand. Captures are posted around the room or common space for participants to look at. By the end of the day/event, attendees have visual summaries of all major discussions.

KNowledge Walls

Knowledge Walls usually focus on a larger theme or shared vision of a group. Rather than capturing what is said in a specific meeting, I set up in a communal space throughout the day to capture multiple people's thoughts around one central idea. Based on everyone's answers I synthesize the main themes and ideals from the group.

These are especially helpful for reminding a large group of people why they do the work they do, what they want to see more of, or celebrating things that they have accomplished in the past.

Why use Graphic Recording?

Spreading Awareness

Every client receives digital copies of the captures, which can be posted on your website and/or social media to give people a snapshot of the work that you are doing as an organization/company. This engages people who might not have otherwise understood your impact or it can even just create a feeling of missing out by not attending your event, therefore increasing interest in your next conference or summit!

Remembering your Vision

The physical and digital copies are often hung in the workplace as a reminder of what your group stands for and where you want to go as a community. These captures often highlight your identity, the ideas and values you find important, or even remind you of the things you are striving to improve!

Gaining Insight

Want to hear from the people in your team? Knowledge walls are a great way to gather information on how your team is feeling, what they would like to see more of in the organization/company, and the things that make them proud to be a part of the team in the first place.

Increasing Participation and Engagement

Graphic Recording is just as much about the process as it is about the product you get at the end. How attendees are taking in the information during the event, enhances the outcome of the event as well. Studies show that about 60% of the population are Visual Learners and we all possess visual thinking skills. When information is presented in multiple ways (i.e Verbal, Text, and Visual) attendees gain a deeper understanding of the material and can engage with information more effectively, compared to the standard (and sometimes dreaded) Powerpoint presentation.
